Westhaven has been supporting families in our community for over 60 years, through our focus on quality and flexible disability services such as social support, living arrangements and employment opportunities.

We are currently seeking Support Workers to join our Supported Independent Living Teams. Available shifts may include one-on-one in-home support as well as the opportunity to work with others facilitating groups during community outings.

We require our people to be both adaptable and flexible for both our clients and their families. The hours of work can vary as we meet our clients ever evolving service requirements. We have multiple roster options over a 24/7 period, including weekends, public holidays and sleepovers.

If you are the right person for this role we would love you to begin as a casual for immediate start so that we can provide you with the training you will need for this role with Permanent positions to be available commencing August 2021.

You will provide support for our participants by :

  • Transporting clients to community programs/recreational activities
  • Social and community support
  • Showering assistance
  • Manual handling including hoist transfers manual, electric / assisted standing
  • Dressing assistance and hygiene needs
  • Bowel and continence support
  • Medication assistance
  • Assistance or preparation of meals
  • Domestic support cleaning and household tasks
  • Safe driving practices

In addition to your experience and / or desire to work with our amazing Participants and passionate staff you would ideally have :

  • Cert III or above in Aged Care, Disability, Individual Support, community Service or equivalent highly desirable, but not essential.
  • Ability to use of hoists, shower aides, vehicle wheelchair lifts, and vehicle wheelchair restraints
  • Be fit with the ability to perform manual handling tasks and also the involvement of recreational activities, including going to the gym, swimming, sports etc.
  • Competent written, verbal and computer-based communication skills.
  • An unrestricted current NSW Drivers Licence.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.

Holding a current Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check and completing a National Criminal History Record Check clearance are requirements of this position.
