Westhaven is a not for profit, community-based charity organisation, who have been providing support to adult and children and young people with disability within NSW for over 60 years. We have a strong focus on quality, flexible and persons centred disability services.

We are currently seeking Casual Support Workers with our Orange property. 

  • Experience supporting Adults, Children and Young People with disabilities.
  • An understanding of trauma informed care and practices.
  • Experience supporting people with disability and challenging behaviours

 Key Responsibilities You will be providing hands on care and support our Adults, Children and Young People.  

  • Provide personal care as required, according to level of need.
  • You will support to our Adults, Children and Young People to develop their personal, social and living skills.
  • Work across multiple roster options over a 24/7 period, including weekends, public holidays and sleepovers.

 Skills & Experience

  • Minimum Cert III Community Services, Disability or similar.
  • Preferred previous experience working with persons with behaviours of concern.
  • Competent written, verbal and computer-based communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to suit the needs of the service and the people we support.
  • An unrestricted current NSW Drivers Licence.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • We require our people to be both adaptable and flexible for both our clients and their families. The hours of work can vary as we meet our clients ever evolving service requirements. We have multiple roster options over a 24/7 period, including weekends, public holidays and sleepovers.

Holding a current Working with Children Check and completing a National Criminal History Record Check clearance are requirements of this position.

We are currently seeking Support Workers to join our Community team. Available shifts include one-on-one in-home support as well as the opportunity to work with others facilitating groups during community outings. Availability is required outside of traditional office hours, with various smaller shifts available throughout the day from 0600-2000, weekends and sleepovers. 

Duties include but not limited to

  • Support in community participation programs
  • Transportation of clients to community programs/recreational activities
  • Social and community support
  • Showering assistance
  • Manual handling including hoist transfers manual, electric / assisted standing
  • Dressing assistance and hygiene needs
  • Bowel and continence support
  • Medication assistance
  • Assistance or preparation of meals
  • Domestic support cleaning and household tasks
  • Safe driving practices including driving of  of up a 12 seater van

 A Successful applicant will have:

  • Cert III or above in Aged Care, Disability, Individual Support, community Service or equivalent highly desirable, but not essential.
  • Ability to  use of hoists, shower aides, vehicle wheelchair lifts, and vehicle wheelchair restraints
  • Be fit with the ability to perform manual handling tasks and also the involvement of recreational activities, including going to the gym, swimming, sports etc. 
  • Competent written, verbal and computer-based communication skills.
  • An unrestricted current NSW Drivers Licence.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Completion of  the 'NDIS Worker Orientation Module" www.https://training.ndiscommission.gov.au/
